AP Govt to allot LPG dealerships

The Andhra Pradesh Government plans to give 126 new dealership for LPG gas in the State during 2007, according to the State Minister for Agriculture & Civil Supplies, Mr N. Raghuveera Reddy.
The idea is to augment the supply of cooking gas for domestic use. Similarly, to curb the diversion of LPG for use in vehicles, the State Government has had extensive discussions with the Oil companies, he told presspersons here today.
Filling Station
Accordingly, it has been agreed to set up a filling station in every district during the coming year, to supply LPG exclusively for vehicles. The Minister said about 2,700 cases were booked with reference to diversion of domestic gas for use in vehicles and appropriate action was being taken.
On the issue of ration cards, the Minister said, as a result of the extensive drive during 2005-06, virtually the entire population was covered.
On procurement of commodities, Mr Reddy said during the year 2006, a total of 20 lakh tonnes of various commodities were procured at the 620 centres run by the department. The farmers were also happy with the minimum support price, which was raised by Rs 50 on most crops by the United Progressive Alliance Government in the last two years.
